StockGap Terms of Service

Last updated 19 September 2026

These terms apply between StockGap ("we") and the Shopify merchant who installs it ("you"). Installing the app means accepting them.

1. What the app does

StockGap reads your products, stock levels and order line items in order to estimate demand, recommend reorder quantities, and identify dead stock. It records your stock levels once a day so it can tell demand apart from a stockout.

2. What it does not do

It does not change your products, prices, orders or customers. The only write it can perform is adding received quantities to stock when you mark a purchase order as received, and only when you choose to.

3. Forecasts are estimates

Every number the app produces is an estimate from historical data. They are decision support, not a guarantee. Stock, supplier and purchasing decisions remain yours, and we are not liable for commercial outcomes that follow from them — including stock you order, stock you do not order, or demand that does not materialise.

Where the app cannot know something, it says so rather than guessing. Estimated stockout history is labelled as estimated, and figures that depend on cost data you have not entered are excluded rather than substituted.

4. Billing

Paid plans are billed by Shopify on your existing Shopify invoice. We never see or handle your payment details. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; cancelling within the trial means no charge. You can cancel at any time from the Plans page or by uninstalling. Charges already made are not refunded pro rata, since Shopify bills in 30-day cycles.

5. Availability

We aim to keep the app available but do not promise uninterrupted service. The nightly job that records your stock levels may occasionally fail; when it does, that day is missing from your history and the estimate is slightly less precise. It does not affect your store.

6. Ending the agreement

Uninstall the app at any time. Your data is erased 48 hours later, when Shopify sends the deletion request. We may suspend an account that is abusing the service or attempting to circumvent plan limits.

7. Data processing terms

Roles. For any personal data reached through your store, you are the controller and we are the processor. We act only on your instructions, which are given by installing and configuring the app.

Subject matter and duration. Processing continues while the app is installed and for 48 hours afterwards.

Nature and purpose. Reading products, stock levels and order line items to produce inventory forecasts for your store.

Categories of data. In practice, none relating to your customers. Order line items are reduced at ingest to which variant, which day, how many units, how much revenue, and all customer fields are discarded before anything is stored. We hold no names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, order identifiers or payment details.

Sub-processors. A hosting provider that runs the application and a managed PostgreSQL provider that stores it. Both process only on our instructions. We will give notice before adding a sub-processor that changes where data is held.

Security. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access tokens are stored server-side and never exposed to a browser. We handle no payment data at any point.

Assistance. We will help you respond to data subject requests and to Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks. Because we store no customer personal data, the answer to an access or erasure request is that none is held.

Deletion. On uninstall we erase every record belonging to your store — products, sales history, stock history, suppliers, purchase orders and the access token. On request we will do it sooner.

Audit. We will provide the information reasonably needed to demonstrate compliance with this section.

8. Changes

If these terms change materially we will notify installed merchants inside the app and update the date above.
